The Bushwacker St. Thomas’ adopted island drink

The Bushwacker

The Bushwacker is a delicious tropical concoction tasting like a milkshake. Originally created at the Bolongo Bay Beach Resort in St. Thomas.

St. Thomas has unofficially adopted this beautiful, yummy, speciality as their own.

A delicious Bushwacker. It is all mine!

Don’t let it fool you. It goes down like a milkshake, contains tons of calories, and will have you dropping like it’s hot, right on your tookus.

Most drinks contain:

amaretto
kahlua
Creme de cacao
Irish cream
Light and dark rums
(and frozen)

It’s sort of like the east coast’s long island, but much better.

Paradise Point’s Cafe is known to have the Best Bushwackers on St. Thomas.

However, Bolongo’s is much better (trust me.)

Take a trip up and just remember, you don’t have to drive. You have the ski lift taking care of you!

Here’s their recipe and serves 4, when done blending with ice sprinkle some nutmeg on top.

Paradise Point’s Bushwacker recipe:

2 oz. coconut rum
6 oz. bailey’s
4 oz. amaretto
4 oz. kahlua
2 oz. vodka

Blend with ice in blender and voila! Drink up my friends.

  1. THE BEST Bushwacker is to be found at Duffy’s Love Shack in Red Hook, St. Thomas, VI
Boy, what I would give for their recipe. Weeeeee

  2. The bar at Magens Bay makes great “Bushies” (local talk). A good bartender takes 3 bottles between the fingers in each hand and pours in blender,(forget the measuring!) adds the ice, blend, and tops with chocolate shavings,or cinnamon. Stagger back to your beach chair and watch the cruise boat people walk by.
